What did I care about monks and monasteries?

What did I care about monks and monasteries? The world is open out before me, with all its entertainments and pleasures. Everything can be mine, with my intelligence and my five senses I can rob all treasures and empty them all. Does it matter how much of its luxuries I can have and how many I'll never reach? Living in a cave, in silence, doesn't really sounds like enjoying one's own life. So is it true that the best pleasures can be had without much or with nothing at all?
