What did I care about monks and monasteries?
The world is open out before me, with all its entertainments and pleasures. Everything can be mine, with my intelligence and my five senses I can rob all treasures and empty them all. Does it matter how much of its luxuries I can have and how many I’ll never reach?
Living in a cave, in silence, doesn’t really sounds like enjoying one’s own life. So is it true that the best pleasures can be had without much or with nothing at all?
Would it be the reason why I care about monks and monasteries?
