The caves may have been deserted for over 1100 years, but now they are the destination of all the schools in the area and many more from afar.
The quiet meditative caves are then transformed into school playing halls where laughs, games and shoutings would hardly have any interruptions. Still the ballet was very well orchestrated, with all the groups having a group leader and ID cards, the joyful and agitated spirit was surprisingly getting all quiet when all the kids would line up perfectly before getting out of each cave, getting ready to move on to compromise the next one!

From Bashkar's room, you can smell the human flesh and hair burning from the cremation ghat right down below.
Time never stops, always running ahead.
He told me: "The only constant is change, impermanence, Anitya in sanskrit! Unless you stop moving, within your body and within your thoughts".
And this, Bashkar can't forget of course, the bodies arriving down there every ten minutes, days and nights, are his life and death, constant, reminders.

Wandering at night in Varanasi, the city is silenced by the occasional electricity cuts, all human traffic terminated, only some cows are roaming from one trash pile to another and dog packs are abruptly running and barking along the ghats.
The cycle rickshaw driver is still down here, the street is his workplace and his rickshaw his bed.

The world is open out before me, with all its entertainments and pleasures. Everything can be mine, with my intelligence and my five senses I can rob all treasures and empty them all. Does it matter how much of its luxuries I can have and how many I'll never reach?
Living in a cave, in silence, doesn't really sounds like enjoying one's own life. So is it true that the best pleasures can be had without much or with nothing at all?
Would it be the reason why I care about monks and monasteries?

Homosexuality is mostly a taboo subject in Indian, Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code makes sex with persons of the same gender punishable by law. But the Supreme Court of India overturned that ruling on 11 December 2013, stating that the Court was instead deferring to Indian legislators to provide the sought-after clarity.
Public discussion of homosexuality in India has been inhibited by the fact that sexuality in any form is rarely discussed openly. In recent years, however, attitudes towards homosexuality have shifted slightly.
In particular, there have been more depictions and discussions of homosexuality in the Indian news media and in Bollywood.
In the Rigveda, one of the four canonical sacred texts of Hinduism says "Vikriti Evam Prakriti", meaning "What seems unnatural is also natural", which some scholars believe recognizes homosexual/transsexual dimensions of human life, like all forms of universal diversities.
Evidence indicates that homosexuality has been prevalent across the Indian subcontinent throughout history, and that homosexuals were not necessarily considered inferior in any way until about 18th century.

So many things in life we've been trough, only to have to accept.
So many things we wished deep in our heart that never came to us, only to have to let go.

The lingam, known as Shiva-linga, is the beginning-less and endless cosmic pillar, the cause of all causes.
Seen as a symbol of the energy or of Shiva himself, the lingam is often represented alongside the yoni, a symbol of the goddess or of Shakti, female creative energy.
The union of lingam and yoni represents the male and the female, the space and time from which all life originates.
I was rather impressed by the size of this one.

The Kailasanatha temple was directly carved within the side of a mountain.
The structure is a freestanding multi-storey complex with inner rooms in its core.
Why would want to go find materials and bring them together when it's just about shaping what you have in the most beautiful manner?
I like that, everything is right here, there's no need to go away to find anything, it's all just about making your world the way you want.

Moving away, as it happens quite often in life, you say goodbye to the persons you love before a one way flight.
The sharing, the looks, the laughs will be missed, always. They'll still be living in some part of my brain, they make me who I am.
Maybe, that's only what I am.

How natural this all is in their childhood! Then I try to remember mine.

He looked at me, I looked at him, he looked at the lamp (I was meant to place my hand on top of it for a prayer), I looked at the lamp, I looked at him, he looked at me, he looked at the bill (giving a donation afterward...), I looked at the bill, he looked at me, I looked at him moving my camera upward, he initiated his eyes move on the side... I took the picture.

I was the first human to attain enlightenment. I'm the founder of Jainism, a non-theistic religion which prescribe a path of Ahimsa - nonviolence - towards all living beings, and emphasizes equality between all forms of life.
In Jainism, violence refers primarily to injuring one's own self – behaviour which inhibits the soul's own ability to attain liberation. At the same time it also means violence to others because it is this tendency to harm others that ultimately harms one's own soul.
Ahiṃsā profoundly influenced Mahatma Gandhi; it formed a basis of his satyagraha (truth struggle) against colonial ruling.

But you shouldn't go look inside, what happened there is pretty dreadful.
Sometimes things are in purpose left to the open for the people to see and learn what could happen to them.
It's not money, neither power, it's fear that drives the world.

Of every person lies a world of memories, expectations and dreams. I'll never know what's behind the green door, I would expect a warm home for a family.
Still I'll never know what her dreams are about, what life made her going through, what it is to open the green door everyday.
I'll never know the world under this woman purple veil.

She would never go out or leave the place for the rest of her life.

Swastika or Lucky Charm. In Sanskrit: su "well" asti "being" ka "making". The oldest found has been dated as early as 10,000 BC. In 1920 it was adopted by the Nazi party to symbolize the Aryan race, stigmatizing the sign as associated with antisemitism, hatred, death and murder. In India, painted next to a door, it's still an auspicious sign and an invitation to the gods. Jaisalmer, India, 2014.
